The Edison V3 is a compact and versatile educational robot specifically designed to make programming and robotics accessible to students of all ages. With its built-in sensors, motors, and interactive features, the robot can move independently, respond to its environment, and perform various tasks.
The latest version of Edison is equipped with a rechargeable battery and an integrated USB connection.
Programming
All programming options are completely free to use with your Edison robot.
Edison can be programmed using one of the educational programming languages for robots (EdBlocks, EdScratch, or EdPy) or screenless programming options (Barcode Programming or Card Coding).
All robot programming activities and languages for Edison are accessible via a browser – no additional software is required.
Sensors
The various sensors of the Edison robot can detect different things, including sound, visible light, and infrared light. Edison can be programmed to respond to the different stimuli it perceives, using one of the Edison programming languages.
For example, it has infrared sensors at the front that allow it to detect obstacles and avoid collisions. On the underside, there is a light sensor that recognises contrasts, enabling Edison to follow lines on the ground.
In addition, the robot has a sound sensor (microphone) that responds to sounds such as a clap, and a light sensor that allows it to detect changes in light intensity. Through infrared communication, Edison can receive signals from a remote control or even communicate with other robots.
Finally, built-in wheel sensors (encoders) ensure that Edison can move accurately and estimate distances correctly. Thanks to this combination of sensors, the Edison robot is ideal for getting to know programming and robotics in a playful way.
